Nutrition and Breast Cancer

Nutrition is important for preventing and managing breast cancer. Research shows that eating a plant-based diet can lower the risk of breast cancer. A plant-based diet includes colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based protein. These foods contain nutrients like antioxidants and fiber that fight inflammation and reduce the risk of cancer.
Maintaining a healthy weight is also important, especially after menopause. Being overweight increases estrogen levels, which can raise the risk of breast cancer.
Other factors like alcohol, sugar, and soy can affect breast cancer risk. For example, even small amounts of alcohol increase risk. Experts recommend no more than one drink per day for women, and no more than two for men. But, it’s best to talk to a doctor about what’s right for each person.
