A look back at an inspiring 2019
In a recent team meeting, we took a moment to reflect on what was an extraordinary year for The Pink Fund. We are like most teams who work hard every day, but we are different in that our ‘clients’ and our community members are facing unimaginable hardships. The weight of those hardships is with us as we navigate our days.
We have to take the time to relish every success, savor every heartfelt “thank you note” and keep pushing to raise more money, to help more people to avoid the hardships caused by the financial impacts of breast cancer. It is our passion that drives us forward on the most challenging days.
In 2019, we were blown away by the many, many organizations and individuals who joined forces with us to raise funds to help those breast cancer patients in need. We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support and efforts of those who share our passion.
The best part about all the fundraising that was done on behalf of The Pink Fund in 2019 is that it was fun, inspiring, creative and sometimes downright wacky and we loved each and every one!
2019 started off with our friends, the Genesee Sno Packers, holding their annual Bikini Rally in upstate New York where bikini-clad snowmobilers take a chilly ride through the snow to raise funds. Another group of ‘enthusiasts’ that we were happy to see come back again to help The Pink Fund, is The Spring-Nuts. This is a self-proclaimed group of “rabid Bruce Springsteen fans” based in his home state. Each year, they hold a weekend music celebration - The Spring-Nut Seaside Serenade.
One of our perennial favorites each year is the Lingenfelter Collection Fall Charity event. A wonderful event that offers visitors the opportunity to take a close up look at this private collection of 150 unique cars; part of the one of the top car collections in the world. With our love of cars, we can never get enough of the enthusiasm from Cruz Pedregon, driving the Snap-On Dodge Charger with our colors on the NHRA Funny Car track!
We were inspired to see a lot of young athletes and activists in our fundraising this year. Rush Soccer and Capelli Sport once again teamed up to provide Rush branded pink laces to benefit The Pink Fund. There were so many school and sports-related efforts, we cheered each of them on including Detroit Country Day School Field Hockey team, Oakland University Women’s Soccer, Northville High School Cheerleaders and Rush Soccer Northville Boys who doubled down on donations scoring 29 goals in October to raise additional funds.
First responders are part of the lifeblood of any community; both the San Jose Firefighters and the Traverse City Firefighters went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts this year. Thank you for returning in 2019 to make an impact on our grant recipients’ lives.
There are so many unsung heroes who raise their hands to help raise funds and provide 90 days of financial assistance for breast cancer patients in active treatment. Follow us on social media where we tell their remarkable stories.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram during the month of February where we will be sharing OUR LOVE for our supporters. To each and every person who has helped us along the way, we say THANK YOU. Thank you for your efforts and for refueling our passion to eliminate financial toxicity for breast cancer patients.
